IMF Administrative Tribunal
The IMF Administrative Tribunal (IMFAT) provides a judicial forum for the resolution of employment disputes arising between staff members and the IMF.
The Statute of the Tribunal entered into force on October 15, 1992. The Tribunal was formally established January 13, 1994, when, pursuant to the Statute, the Fund's Managing Director notified the staff of the appointment of the Tribunal's members. The Tribunal adopted its Rules of Procedure in 1994, and it issued amended Rules of Procedure in 2004.
The Tribunal is composed of a President, two associate members and two alternates, each appointed for two-year terms and eligible for reappointment. All members must satisfy the statutory requirement that they possess the qualifications required for appointment to high judicial office or be jurisconsults of recognized competence.
